A MAN of Kalomo District in Southern Province has been murdered after he picked up a quarrel with another man over a girlfriend.
Gibson Malambo, 41, of Hamankamwina Village in Chief Chikanta’s area was discovered dead with a cut on the left side of the face and burns on the chest.
Provincial Police chief Goldwin Phiri confirmed the incident in an interview yesterday.
Mr Phiri said the deceased was discovered dead in the middle of Hapuya Road within the chiefdom after he went missing from home for two days.
“Kalomo police station received a murder report in which Simon Malambo of Hamankamwina Village in Chief Chikanta of Kalomo reported that his elder brother, Gibson, a 41-year-old was found dead,” he said.
Mr Phiri said that Mr Malambo, who reported the matter to police, discovered his brother with a cut on the left side of the face and burns on the chest.
The deceased was last seen on Tuesday around 23:00 hours in Hapuya area and later disappeared.
Mr Malambo was reported to have fought with a local resident, Gobashu Nzila, 25, of the same area over a girlfriend only identified as Grace.
Police have since picked up a suspect in connection with the murder.
The body is lying in Kalomo Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem and burial.
