MUSONDA –
THE Footbal Association of Zambia (FAZ) has handed Zambia a dark Christmas present by withdrawing the Under-17 women national team from the 2016 Jordan Under-17 World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
While FAZ decided to go quiet about this, the South African Football Association (SAFA) posted on Twitter that Zambia had pulled out and they had taken a walkover victory.
“South Africa women’s Under-17 side has received a World Cup walkover following Zambia’s withdrawal.
The two were scheduled to play the first leg on 9 Jan,” read a SAFA_net twitter handle.
Zambia was set to face their South African nemesis side in the first leg ion January 9 in South Africa and the return a  fortnight later in Lusaka before going to the last stage of the qualifiers.
The Zambia Under-17 is the only football team, male or female, to have made the football World Cup.
The winner of this tie was to play the winner between Nigeria and Namibia for a place at the Under-17 women football World Cup in Jordan.

And when speaking to Kick-off magazine, Safa president Danny Jordaan said FAZ did not say exactly why but hinted that it was the various problems FAZ was facing mostly pertaining to financial issues.
Senior FAZ officials are appearing before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) while Football House was visited by bailiffs and also by Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
“Yesterday we were informed that Zambia, who were supposed to play against our Under-17 women’s team, have withdrawn from the qualification for the Under-17 World Cup,” Jordaan told KickOff.com.
When asked if CAF presented reasons to the federation on why Zambia decided to pull out at such short notice, Jordan said Safa was not informed.
“I don’t know. We were just informed by CAF that Zambia has withdrawn their Under-17 team.
There are some issues also in Zambia, I’m sure you may assume,” he added.
The women’s U-17 World Cup will take place next year in Jordan and will run from September to October 21.
