CHIEF Government spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili yesterday led scores of mourners in paying their last respects to Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAOG) Bishop Sky Banda who was put to rest yesterday at Nkana Cemetery in Kitwe.
Mr Kambwili, who represented President Edgar Lungu, said during the funeral service at Maranatha Church in Parklands that the death of Bishop Banda had cast a dark cloud on the nation.
“It is a sad moment for the Church and Government to lose a man of Bishop Banda’s calibre,” said Mr Kambwili, who is also Information and Broadcasting Services minister.
He said Bishop Banda impacted positively on many spheres of the country’s affairs.
He noted that it was difficult for one to write the history of the pentecostal churches in Zambia without mentioning Bishop Banda.
He said the nation and Government were disturbed by the death of Bishop Banda.
Mr Kambwili, on behalf of the Government and President Lungu, wished the bereaved family and the Pentecostal Church condolences and God’s blessings.
