A TWENTY-two-year-old housewife of Cripsy Township in Lusaka has appeared in a Lusaka magistrate’s court for allegedly stoning her husband to death.
Bridget Chikwanda, unemployed, is alleged to have murdered Samson Phiri on November 28, this year.
It is alleged that Mr Chikwanda, 24, was at a bottle store when Bridget, in the company of other unknown people, stoned him.
Mr Chikwanda is alleged to have been hit with stones which resulted in him sustaining head injuries and bleeding profusely.
According to sources, on November 27, 2015, around 21:00 hours, Mr Chikwanda was at a bottle store known as Inginga in the company of other people when his wife arrived with other unknown people.
Some people started throwing stones which hit Mr Chikwanda while Bridget was allegedly shouting that she would kill him because he had troubled her a lot together with his ‘prostitutes’.
Bridget allegedly chased after the husband and a fight ensued when she caught up with him.
Mr Chikwanda was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Chief Resident Magistrate Aridah Chulu allocated the case to Magistrate Mubita for explanation of the charge.
Bridget will continue appearing before Ms Mubita until instructions for her committal to the High Court are received from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
