THE   Patriotic Front (PF) in Central Province has urged members aspiring to be adopted as Members of Parliament (MPs),  to stop premature campaigns until Parliament is dissolved.
Provincial chairperson Ben Chali said members should heed the directive from party chairperson for elections Jean Kapata and secretary general Davies Chama.
He said those aspiring to contest as MPs needed to wait until the President dissolves Parliament in order for them to start campaigning.
Mr Chali said the secretary general had issued a circular which stopped members from engaging in premature campaigns.
“I would also like to urge MPs in the province to concentrate on finishing their mandate rather than engage in premature campaigns,” he said.
Patriotic Front District secretary Bostin Mpende said aspiring candidates needed to respect the directive from the secretary general  and that,  the PF would not allow aspiring candidates from any party  to start premature campaigns ahead of the 2016 elections.
Mr Mpende said the directive represented what President Edgar Lungu and Mr Chama echoed in the past.
He urged PF members to channel their energy to mobilise the party by establishing and reinforcing party structures as well as recruiting new members.
Mr Mpende said members needed to concentrate on bringing back old members  to the party and to  explain Government projects which were currently taking place in Kabwe in readiness for the tripartite elections.
He called on all peace loving PF members to abide by the directive in order to promote unity, peace and harmony in the party.
“We therefore direct all patriotic Front Party members to abide by this directive in order to bring unity, peace and harmony,” he said.
