MOJO New Media director John Mwanza says his firm has ventured into film making after years of successfully producing music.
In an interview with the StarTimes Weekend Entertainment, Mwanza praised President Edgar Lungu for his directive to Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Chishimba Kambwili to take the film policy to Cabinet before February next year.
Mwanza said the entertainment industry could provide employment for many youths in the country, hence the need for it to be supported by stakeholders.
Founded in 2010, Mojo New Media has been touted as the best newcomer on the Zambian music scene.
So far the firm has produced music for artistes like Mumba Yachi, JK, Uncle Rex, Pilato, Cactus Agony, Kanji and Sir Jones.
Its sister enterprise, Mojo Music, is an innovative entertainment label made up of a lively and inventive crew that comprises an inimitable combination of general management, artistes and sound engineers.
“The objective is to reset film and music to its original form and enable Zambian artistes to produce movies and music that can compete at an international level,” Mwanza said.
He said the organisation was working towards injecting a new and exciting brand of entertainment into Zambia so that rather than limiting itself, the group can go far and beyond the borders of the country.
“We have a unique blend of management and entertainers and with this strong team, we are confident in taking on any challenge that the industry may throw in our direction,” Mwanza said.
Mojo New Media early this month released its second edition of an all-house music featuring various Zambian artistes.
