THE Chipolopolo has slumped two places on the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola rankings for December to be now ranked 73 in the World and 17th in Africa.
Zambia beat Sudan in a two-legged Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier winning 1-0 away and 2-0 at home but failed to gain enough points that saw them overtaken by nemesis South Africa.
Ivory Coast continue to be Africa’s best ranked side and are 19th in the World followed by Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde Islands, Tunisia, Senegal, Congo Brazzaville, Guinea, Egypt and Cameroon completing the top 10.
Belgium tops the World rankings followed by Argentina, Spain, with World champions Germany in fourth position, as Chile, Brazil, Portugal, Colombia, England and Austria make up the top 10.
Meanwhile, a Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspector arrived in the country yesterday to check on Zambia’s preparedness to host the 20th edition of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2017.
FAZ marketing manager Nchimunya Mayinga said the inspector, Yasmine El Ehwany, will be in the country for four days.
Mayinga said before proceeding with the inspections, Ehwany will pay a courtesy call on the Sports Minister Vincent Mwale before visiting media houses-ZNBC and MUVI TV, match venues, training venues, hotels and hospitals.
