THE Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) will this month hold a strategic meeting to plan for the 2016 activities which include the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
ZBF affiliates will converge on Nyaka Lodge in Kabwe on December 12 to strategically look at national boxing development programmes for next year.
However, ZBF warned that affiliates in arrears with payment for 2014/15 affiliations would not be allowed to attend the meeting.
ZBF secretary general Ceasar Musuku said in a statement that some of the programmes on the agenda were long term talent identification, upgrading of certification courses for coaches, judges and referees in line with the world governing body, AIBA’s requirements.
Musuku said to improve its marketing image, ZBF would introduce a boxing marketing arm and also appoint board members.
He said the affiliates would also be briefed on the launch of a boxing academy at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Lusaka by AIBA and that ZBF will appoint some technical personnel to manage the academy.
Musuku said the strategic meeting would also look at the national boxing calendar for 2016 as Zambia strives to send world-beaters at the Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.
“We have pleasure to inform you that, the Zambia Boxing Federation is inviting all the fully paid up members to above-mentioned event.
“The meeting will be held at Nyaka Lodge in Kabwe on the 12 December 12, 2015, kindly we ask you to attend as we would like to strategise national developmental boxing programmes for the year 2016,” he said in a notice to all provincial leaders, technical commissions, Sports Council of Zambia and the National Olympic Committee.
