UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) Katuba Member of Parliament Jonas Shakafuswa has been summoned by Police in Kabwe for allegedly assaulting two residents of Lusaka during a by-election in Katuba in February 2014.
In March last year, Police recorded a warn and caution statement from Mr Shakafuswa after he was interviewed by a team of police officers.
Central Province Police chief Lombe Kamukoshi confirmed the summoning of the lawmaker in connection with the assault allegations but could not provide further details.
“Yes, we have summoned him over assault allegations, but I will not be able to give details today,” she said.
Mr Shakafuswa was alleged to have assaulted two residents of Kanyama Township on February 25, 2014, which was the day of the by-election in Katuba.
The MP was questioned on March 17, 2014 in the company of other party officials.
Meanwhile, investigations into a case in which a police officer was brutally murdered by unknown people before he was dumped near Nkuruma University in Kabwe had continued.
