By MUNAMBEZA MUWANEI –
CHIEF Government spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili has expressed disappointment at the failure by some district commissioners and mayors on the Copperbelt Province to attend the Nsengele Kununka traditional ceremony of His Royal Highness Chief Machiya of Mpongwe.
Mr Kambwili, who was speaking during the Nsengele Kununka traditional ceremony in Mpongwe yesterday, said it was wrong for the district commissioners and mayors in the province not to attend the event but chose to go for ceremonies outside the province and claimed allowances.
“The absence of district commissioners and mayors from this event is so disappointing but they always want to attend ceremonies that are outside the province because of allowances,” he said.
He has since instructed Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Howard Sikwela to ensure that future ceremonies are all attended by the district commissioners and mayors in the province.
Meanwhile,  Chief Machiya, through his representative Emmanuel Kasambo, appealed to the Government to work on the Mpongwe-Machiya Road and build a boarding school in the area.
