CATHERINE Phiri’s World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight gold title fight against champion, Yazmin Rivas, has been moved from November 28 to December 5, in Mexico.
The fight has been deferred by a week as the WBC and the promoter wants the bout to be the main event of the WBC female convention which will take place in the city of Tijuana State Baja California, Mexico.
Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) manager Christopher Malunga said in a statement yesterday that his stable had no problems with the change of date.
Malunga said OQBP is happy that the bout will take place during the WBC female convention which will give Catherine more international exposure.
Catherine was named the mandatory challenger for the female gold bantamweight title against the Mexican champion after Christina McMahon was stripped of the interim title for refusing to defend the belt against the Zambian champion.
