A WOMAN in Kitwe has been brutally murdered after allegedly being raped by unknown assailants.
The body of the woman, believed to be in the mid-30s, was found naked with deep cuts on the head.
Copperbelt Police chief Joyce Kasosa confirmed the brutal murder, which happened early Friday morning in the industrial area on the Kitwe-Chingola Road.
Ms Kasosa said yesterday that a brick with blood stains was found next to the body.
She said Morgan Chansa, a security guard at Copperhill who found the body reported the incident to the Police.
“Police visited the scene and found a dead body of a female aged between 30 and 35, naked with deep cuts on the head,” she said.
Ms Kasosa said the body was taken to Kitwe Central Hospital mortuary waiting for postmortem and burial.
She said no arrest had been made but the Police had launched investigations and a docket for murder was opened.
Ms Kasosa appealed to members of the public to help the Police with information in the matter to bring the perpetrators to book.
In Kabwe, a woman is battling for her life in hospital after her ex-husband allegedly hacked her in the face and head using a machete before killing himself with insecticide.
The woman, identified as Violet Bango, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Kabwe General Hospital with health personnel described her condition as critical.
Central Province Police chief Lombe Kamukoshi said she had not yet received the report.
