UPCOMING local golfer Dayne Moore yesterday finished the Sun Boardwalk Golf Challenge at the Humewood Golf Club in South Africa on three-over-par 219 after tough three rounds.
In yesterday’s closing round, Moore played his best round at the tournament as he did a level par 72 to finish the tournament on three-over par and indicate a constant improvement from day to day.
On Day-One, Moore carded a two-over par 74 before he played a shot better on Day-Two and yesterday played a further shot better to play level par. Just as the previous two days, Moore’s card was colourful and dotted with birdies, bogeys and a triple bogey.
Unlike in the Vodacom Origins of Golf event presented by Samsung at St Francis Links a week ago where a triple bogey demoralised him and led to play 12-over-par in one round, Moore handled the set back better and came out stronger.
After a triple bogey on the eighth, which was after two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, Moore was hit by a bogey which took his overall score to seven-over-par.
But a string of four birdies on seven holes gave Moore the finishing he would have wanted and brought down his core of three-over par 219.
Reigning Zambia Sugar Open champion Vaughn Groenewald had an eagle on the 19th and that only helped him to finish a short better than the lanky Moore.
