NDOLA golfer Dayne Moore yesterday made the cut at the Sun Boardwalk Golf Challenge at the Humewood Golf Club in South Africa with a two-round three-over-par 147 as compatriot Madalitso Muthiya crashed out.
This comes a week after Moore put up a miserable showing at the Vodacom Origins of Golf event presented by Samsung at St Francis Links while Muthiya produced a startling performance.
Moore had what looked like another poor day after finishing early on three-over but was shocked to see players who went in late, including Muthiya, bring home horribly poor scores.
On Day-One, Moore had an eventful day and carded a modest two-over-par 72 which was despite him sinking five birdies, that effort watered down after a string of three bogeys and two double-bogeys.
Yesterday, he avoided the double-bogeys but could not run away from three bogeys which he laced with two birdies for a one-over par 73.
Moore will look at Thursday’s performance as an improvement from the first day and will in today’s final round be hoping to avoid bogeys and then double his birdies’ count.
For Muthiya, it is one tournament he will wish was erased from his record after finishing with an eight-over-par after two rounds.
On Wednesday, Muthiya had four birdies before he sunk a triple bogey on the 13th and then added a double bogey on the 17th which added a bogey he had earlier on the eighth to finish three-over.
Although he avoided the double and triple bogeys in yesterday’s round, he was hit by seven bogeys and two birdies that sent him crushing out on eight over par, which was five shots off the unusually high scoring cut.
