Your Memorable Wedding -New SunitaA PEACOCK is a bird with a large brightly coloured tail. Many people call it a bird full of pride. It is colourful and we all love to watch its beauty. Peacock-inspired wedding theme is what Brian Kasungu (marketer, Oryx Zambia) and Mainza Syulikwa (economist, working as a banker at Finance Bank and the author’s niece) chose for their memorable wedding.
Brian and Mainza met at a youth group meeting at Church in 2006 and become best friends for three years, then finally started dating. They had their shares of up’s and downs and even break ups. Their paths crossed again, got serious in 2011when it immediately felt right.
After about two years of dating. While having a lovely view of one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Brian proposed on July 6, 2014 by the Victoria Falls. Their nuptial took place in September 2015.
The wedding celebration was held at woodlands Baptist Church at 10hrs and officiated by Reverend William Chanda. They bridal party knew the importance of time management and arrived 10 minutes earlier. The father walked in style with his daughter to give her hand in marriage.
The wedding reception venue was at the refurbished ZAF mess in Lusaka. Mr Lee Habasonda, Director, Transparent International Zambia was the guest of honor.
The bridal party consisted of four bridesmaids and four groomsmen, matron and two flower girls.
Peacock inspired wedding theme gained its popularity in October 2014. Since then it has been a strong theme in the wedding world. Peacock wedding theme is a symbol of beauty. You can find peacock wedding inspiration and accessories not to mention dresses will fit right into the theme.
Peacock are such regal birds and just a glimpse of one tail feather automatically brings to mind extraordinary beauty, elegance and glamour which most of us would love to be associated with our wedding. It is a perfect choice.
Have a peacock inspired wedding this summer, it can mean so much more. This is a bird very rarely found in Zambia, it’s not found anyhow so incorporating it into a wedding theme can be very helpful to wedding guests. A peahen is not familiar but it’s a female peacock. This frumpy female bird is definitely not as glamorous looking as the male but she has other appealing attributes and diligently cares for its eggs.
Her dedication and strength is unending. She leaves her nest only once a day to eat and drink, as fast as she can so her nest is not left unattended to for very long and then right back on for another grueling 24 hours.
A peahen has an amazing dedication, so while you decide where to strategically place these gorgeous peacock feathers perhaps in the centerpieces or attached to the invitation cards. Remember peahen with her enduring strength, commitment and know you couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate symbol for a wedding theme.
It is an awesome theme choice for an outdoor summer wedding and what a colour palette it inspires the vivid greens, blues, purple and teals oh my! Now keep in mind as with any theme less is more. Don’t overdo it.
The colour theme was blue and purple. These are beautiful colours that work well for a peacock inspired theme wedding taking place in the evening. The bride and groom picked these colours because they are their favorite colours. Blue for the groom and purple for the bride.
Blue for your wedding colour will create a relaxing and peaceful mood for your wedding in which everyone will feel contented and happy.
Blue is a colour which symbolizes youth, spirituality, peace and tranquility. Blue can also represent those who are soft, compassionate and caring.
Personalities that like blue are faithful yet can tend to worry too much and be over-cautious. Blue can also represent a sensitive and emotional character, and can be a sign of patience and conscientious.
It indicates a need for tranquility in your future and to be able to live your life according to your own ideals and beliefs without having to change your inflexible viewpoint of life to satisfy others. Choosing purple as your wedding color will create a mood of individuality, mystery and fantasy. Personalities that like purple are usually unconventional and likely to achieve positions of authority. Purple is also the colour of royalty and can represent magic, mystery, creativity and strength.
People who like people are highly individual and can also tend to be witty, sensitive, artistic, intuitive, tolerant and dignified. Mainza shared her wedding planning journey. “We started planning in December 2014. Though l think no amount of planning can truly prepare you for such a day. Things may get messed up. A committee is important to help, guide you and they sort of lift the burden of worry off the bride and groom’s shoulders”.
The bride gave advice to all those planning and wishing to have their nuptials.
“My advice to brides is that don’t do everything on your own, try and delegate. Surround yourself with friends and family who you know have your back and this way you avoid being stressed”. Mainza said.
She further went on to say “try and have fun, concerning every aspect, it’s your day so don’t get caught up in the one day event, take care of your relationship with your husband to be”.
Last week on this column l talked about what to do with the gown after the wedding. Mainza’s gown is up for hire. Lastly the bride and groom had this to say. We are honored that you have done a piece on our wedding, thank you very much and God bless you.
Parents always say these words when their daughter or son get married, “you have saved us from the shame” every parent wants the best for their children, they love and it is a great joy to be called father and mother of the bride and father and mother of the groom.
Make your father and mother proud, show them that their teachings were not in vain. They might not have had a white wedding but you can erase that memory and bring in an everlasting celebration. Married has no expire age, when the right time comes it will certainly be the right time, don’t get frustrated celebrate with those that are celebrating and by the time you know it, you are saying your marriage vows.
Congratulations Brian and Mainza for choosing the right path you have given your parents something to celebrate about and they will know the importance of a photo album and picture frames will be stuck in the living room.
