A CARDIAC patient Akende Sianga will represent Zambia at the Global Heroes Marathon slated for October 4 in the United States of America.
Sianga is among thousands of cardiac patients across the world who will compete in the race.
In an interview before leaving for the United States, he said his target was to finish among the top 200 athletes in the 16 kilometre race where he would compete.
He said his aim was to finish within an hour and 40 minutes which he believed he would achieve.
Sianga, who has been living with an artificial heart pulse for many years, is among 10,396 cardiac patients invited for the competition .
“I have been invited to the Global Heroes Marathon among 10,396 athletes. It will be unrealistic to say I will finish first, my target is to finish among the best 200,” he said
Sianga is involved in long distance races to sensitise the public about cardiac diseases and help those affected to live a positive life.
