HAI Telecommunications has launched a new product dubbed CrashPlan for Africa which seeks to give back control of enterprise data.
CrashPlan is a data protection package which allows companies to backup data on their devices as they work.
CrashPlan further helps companies and organisations to focus on their core business.
Launching the product in Lusaka yesterday, Liquid Telecom Group director David Behr said CrashPlan continuously and automatically backs up every version of every file on every device forever.
“It compresses, encrypts and then backs up the data either in our secure pan – African cloud or at your site,” Mr Behr said.
Mr Behr noted that about 50 per cent of data now resides outside data centres, hence the launch.
He said with CrashPlan, anybody in the team would be able to get full access to all their data, anywhere and anytime.
“They can also access all that data remotely from any device not only the device which was used to create the data,” he said.
And Hai Telecommunications managing director, Samson Longwe said that a number of It’s departments would run an arrangement where the data is backed up on some removable drive and many times they have to work long hours to ensure that everybody else concludes their work before backing up that data.
“But what CrashPlan does is that it lowers its’ focus on other areas because data is backed up as and when the users are working,” he said.
This helps businesses on costs reductions and improves on profitability.
