By CHARLES SIMENGWA –
HE may be a little known in Zambian Gospel music, but Bob Chiyuni, alias Holy Bob, is fast establishing himself among the ‘heavyweights’ in the business.
Chiyuni’s spirit and character have endeared him to many Christians – and non-Christians – who treasure quality music.
From his humble beginnings in 2013, when he churned out Mulungu Akabwela, an eight-track album, Chiyuni, 31, has etched his name among the Gospel greats in the country with an unforgettable album bearing the title Imfula Yamapalo.
It is no wonder he has been rubbing shoulders with renowned artistes like Roberta, Ausward, Theresa Kabwita, Kings ‘Malembe Malembe’ Mumbi, and Gabby, among others.
The upcoming artiste is in fact generous in his recognition of these luminaries who have helped launch his music career in earnest.
Chiyuni, who has actively featured on Africa Unite, CBS Television, Muvi Television, ZNBC TV1 and 2, Radio Chimwemwe, and Sun FM, is tonight launching the Imfula Yamapalo DVD.
Imfula Yamapalo was voted song of the month on Radio Chimwemwe in May, this year.
The launch, at the Anglican Church in Ndola, will be supported by Ausward, of the Yahweh fame, Roberta, long known for her signature album Nkamilumbe, Theresa Kabwita, whose stage prowess is unmatched, and the versatile Gabby.
Beauty, that amiable singer behind the Mulimulonga Wamweo song, Higher Calling, Zamer, the Chifundo Brothers, the Messiah Brothers, Cecilia, and Gift Kasuba are the other artistes expected to also feature at the ceremony which will double as a night of worship.
The entry fee for the launch which starts at 19:00 hours is K15, while the group participation fee is K50. The entry fee per choir group is K5, as solo artistes taking part in the gig will fork out K30.
It is a night to look forward to as Chiyuni shares the power-packed Imfula Yamapalo, a song he holds dearly to his heart as it describes God’s mercy and unfailing love for humanity.
Other tracks on the DVD include Kachema Wandi, meaning God is my shepherd, Landeni Chimo (Say something about my life), Tubalumbe (Praise Him), Mbikeni muminwe yenu (Hold me in your hands), Ilyo Yesu Akesa (When Jesus Comes), and Wilalila, an encouragement to everyone to hold steadfastly to God despite the challenges they may be facing in life.
During the DVD launch, Chiyuni will also sample Nshakamilabe, a new song from his yet-to-be-released 10-track album.
“I am encouraging everyone to come to the Anglican Cathedral in Ndola and receive blessings through the Imfula Yamapalo DVD. God never fails, I can assure you,” Chiyuni said in an interview.
