THE Government has released more than K49,000 for the rehabilitation of Chimanimani Youth Centre in Kabwe’s Bwacha Constituency in order to offer youth skills training.
Education Deputy Minister Sydney Mushanga, who is area member of Parliament, said the Government was committed to ensuring that young people were empowered through various programmes.
When he toured the facility before addressing the locals, Mr Mushanga said the Government had decided to rehabilitate the centre which had been left to dilapidate for a long time now.
Mr Mushanga said once the rehabilitation works were done, the facility would be used for youth programmes as well as for women and children.
“I am happy to inform the residents of Bwacha Consistuency that our capable and listening Government has decided to rehabilitate the youth centre.
“This is in a bid to facilitate more youth and women empowerment programmes for the public,” Mr Mushanga said.
The youth centre would carry out skills training programmes that would see the residents trained in carpentry and joinery as well as block making, among others, help the youth become self-reliant.
Chimanimani councillor Rachael Mwelwa thanked the Government for the gesture as it would go a long way in empowering the unemployed.
Ms Mwelwa said the centre would be put to good use by the youth and women who had no venue for meetings and other programmes.
