ZAMBIA’S budding navigator, Jasmeen Singh has been invited by the Federation Internationale Del’automobile (FIA) to attend a women training in cross country sealine rally in Qatar.
Jasmeen is among 18 navigators who have been selected by FIA for the programme set to start on November 2 in Doha.
Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) technical director Muna Singh said in a statement in Lusaka yesterday that the association was happy that Jasmeen made it to the 18 who were selected from 39 countries.
“Zambia keeps on making a good mark on Motor sport; we are happy with Jasmeen as she goes to represent the country,”  Singh said of her daughter’s invitation.
Jasmeen said she was excited to go overseas to represent Zambia and women all over the world.
She said being part of the 18 out of 85 women from 39 countries across the globe meant a lot to her career.
“I would like to thank my dad (Muna Singh) for training and teaching me all I know about motor rally and my mum for all her support and endless prayers. I would also like to thank Jassy Singh, Muna Singh Junior  and Farook Ticklay for the experience that I have gained through them,” she said.
The Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation  will host the five-day training and assessment programme where one driver and one co-driver will ultimately be chosen to team up and participate in the 2016 Sealine Cross Country Rally.
