A ZAMBIAN Citizen has died in a road traffic accident in Johannesburg, South Africa, while three others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at the hospital.
The four met their fate after their vehicle overturned, throwing all passengers out.
Zambia’s first secretary for Press Nicky Shabolyo, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the Zambian had been identified as Philemon Kangwa.
Mr Shabolyo said the president of Zambia Association in South Africa Ferdinand Simaanya said the accident happened around 02:00 hours yesterday on Peter Road in Roodeport, Johannesburg.
He said Mr Kangwa was declared dead at the scene, while Pauline Nalumango and Lwamba Ngande sustained injuries. Both were admitted to Fourways Life Hospital in Johannesburg. The other passenger is a Malawian.
Mr Shabolyo said Zambia’s High Commissioner-designate to South Africa, Emmanuel Mwamba had sent condolences to Mr Kangwa’s family and wished the injured quick recovery.
