By JAMES KUNDA –
AGRICULTURE and Livestock Minister Given Lubinda has implored Chinese investors to establish an agriculture economic zone in Zambia.
Mr Lubinda said the agriculture economic zone will equip the country with high-tech infrastructure to facilitate value addition to local produce.
Mr Lubinda said this in Jilin Province, China during a reception hosted for him by Secretary of the Jilin Provincial Committee Bayin Chaolu at the Nanhu Hotel.
This is according to a statement released in Lusaka yesterday by Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry public relations officer Limpo Mulwana.
“I also called on you (Mr Bayin) to be Zambia’s Ambassador in Jilin Province and help facilitate Chinese investment in Zambia,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to Jilin Province for the support given to the already established Agriculture Technical Centre in Zambia.
Mr Bayin indicated that Jilin Province had made great progress in Zambia and hoped to contribute more projects that would highly benefit the local people through job creation.
“Jilin Province will provide all the support needed to establish the agriculture economic zone in Zambia,” Mr Bayin said.
He appealed to Chinese owned Jihai Agriculture Company Limited which had already established its investment in Zambia, to attract more companies from Jilin Province to invest in the country.
