SINGER Tasila Mwale is next month expected to headline Lusaka’s Alliance Francaise’s events with Siku ya Mizu on 5th September.
Tasila is a name that is well known in the Zambian music circles. A recording and performing artiste, she began her career in February 2002 when she won the M-Net Idol Zambia competition.
Her first album Uchi featured the writing talents of Zambian music royalty, Joe Chibangu, Saboi of Shatel and Leo &Mweembe of Black Muntu.
It received generous airplay and spawned hits like Nalimudiga, Kiwena Fela and Lelo. After Uchi, she seemed to have disappeared from the music scene.
After a long absence to try and pursue an alternative career in Banking and Finance, Tasila returned to the limelight in 2014.
Siku ya Malizu is a live interpretation of Tasila’s 2015 Zambian Music Award winner for Best Traditional Music album, Malizu.
Malizu is a Nsenga word meaning both words and voices and so it will be a night of beautifully voiced storytelling.
On September 18, the centre will host The Zesco Light Orchestra, which would be a pure madness and musical chaos.
On Saturday September 19, The Alliance Francaise promises to bring to its patrons an Open day with fun events for all ages. French quiz, French food, treasure hunt, free music and much, much more.
