By JAMES KUNDA –
ZAMBIA’S envoy to Australia George Zulu has urged business people in that country to explore investment opportunities in Zambia.
Mr Zulu said Zambia was a peaceful country that had lucrative business opportunities in areas of mining, agriculture and tourism.
He was speaking shortly after presenting his credentials to Commonwealth of Australia Governor-General, Peter Cosgrove on Tuesday.
This is according to a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday by First Secretary for Press at the Zambian Embassy in Canberra, Alick Banda.
Mr Zulu assured that the investment of Australians would be safe and rewarding in Zambia.
Mr Zulu called on Zambians in Australia to visit the High Commission in Canberra to exchange ideas, as he would operate an open-door policy.
He urged Zambians to rally behind President Edgar Lungu’s positive development efforts and get fully involved in the development of their country.
Mr Zulu would embark on a familiarisation tour of Australia to meet Zambians and work together on the development of the new Diaspora policy as propagated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Sir Cosgrove said Zambia was welcome to Australia and looked forward to enhanced relations between the two countries.
He said Zambia and Australia should strengthen relations for the benefit of the two countries.
Sir Cosgrove also conveyed good wishes to President Lungu and the people of Zambia, indicating that the new mission marked a fresh era in the relations between the two countries.
Other countries that presented credentials to the Australia governor-general were Mongolia, Mauritius and Sri Lanka.
