Napsa 0  Power  1
A SECOND half goal by Kobe Chipeta was all Power Dynamos needed yesterday to beat struggling Napsa Stars to reclaim second position and cut Zesco United’s lead at the summit of the MTN-FAZ Super League table to a point.
The win pushed Power to 39 points relegating Zanaco, who enjoyed second slot for 24 hours, back into third place on 38 points while Zesco are still waiting for the FAZ disciplinary committee to determine their abandonment case.
Power, who lost 1-0 to Green Buffaloes last weekend, broke the deadlock in the 49th minute after a first half dead rubber to inflict more misery on Napsa, who are wallowing in the relegation waters with 16 points.
Chipeta made use of a loose ball inside the box after Napsa defenders failed to clear their lines to unleash a shot past goalkeeper Philip Banda.
Luka Lungu would have doubled Power’s lead but his well-struck header was easily saved by an alert Banda in goal.
Power was then forced to make a substitute bringing Becky Bizangi to replace Joshua Titima who picked up an injury in a bid to clear an Isaac Ngoma shot in the 75th minute.
The first half saw Napsa manage to absorb Power pressure and had a good chance to take the lead in the 14th minute but Saith Sakala shot his strike way wide at goal in a half that produced less action.
Power suffered another setback in the 42nd minute when striker Patson Daka was stretched out of pitch with injury and was replaced by midfielder Julius Situmbeko.
