MTN Zambia has announced that the coronation ceremony for Nkana as 2013 MTN Premier Division League champions will be held on February 12.
MTN Zambia chief marketing officer, Clement Asante said Nkana would be presented with the coveted trophy at the awards ceremony scheduled for Kitwe, the home of the 2013 league champions. Asante said in a statement released yesterday that the ceremony had to be moved from December 2013 to this year due to a number of logistical factors. ”The awards were moved to 2014 because we had to factor in a number of logistics including moving the awards ceremony from Lusaka to Kitwe.
“You will also remember that the ceremony, which is traditionally held in December, couldn’t take place because most of the Nkana players were engaged in national duty at the CECAFA tournament,” Asante said. The announcement puts to rest concerns raised by Nkana over the delay in the handing the Kitwe giants the league trophy. Asante also pledged MTN’s continued support to Zambian football through various initiatives as a way of giving back to the community.
