FORMER Lusaka district commissioner, Ashwell Kampengele has been found with a case to answer for allegedly using offensive language against Cabinet office.
Lusaka magistrate Lameck Mwale yesterday found Kampengele with a case to answer and placed him on his defence.
Kampengele, 50, of plot number 18, Villa, Lusaka West, is charged with using insulting language.
He is alleged to have on April 8, 2015 in Lusaka used insulting language to Riford Sakala, which remarks were aimed at Cabinet.
When the matter came up for ruling yesterday, Mr Mwale said that after reviewing both oral and written evidence before him, he was of the view that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Kampengele.
Mr Mwale said there was sufficient evidence on record to warrant the placing of Kampengele on his defence so that he could answer to the allegations.
Kampengele’s lawyer later applied to have the matter adjourned to October 15, 2015 to enable him guide and obtain instructions from his client on how he would proceed in his defence.
