Zesco stick to schedule

BRIEF-CASEELECTRICITY consumers have continued to complain about Zesco’s failure to stick to the loadshedding time table.
The consumers are now urging the power utility firm to at least give them a schedule and stick to it to give them a chance to plan their activities properly.
Zesco has in the past few weeks come up with a load shedding timetable, but the company is not adhering to it more often than not.
The call is also being made to the private sector to rise to the challenge and assist boost electricity supply in the country, either through supply of power generators, solar and others.

Charcoal price skyrockets

With this on-going load shedding, the price of charcoal in Luanshya on the Copperbelt has increased by 100 per cent.
A 25 Kilogrammes of charcoal which was costing K30 is now pricing at K60.
The increased demand in the commodity has since seen the forestry department carrying out frequent checks on illegal cutting down of trees and charcoal burning.
This, has, however, affected the supply on the market which has led residents to start panicking in buying the commodity

Kudos to State

Briefcase would like to commend Government for acting against the trade deficit.
Government is currently intensifying regional trade to boost trade and curb the trade deficit the country has gone through in the last six months.
It is a challenge to the business sector to boost trade at regional level and assist curb the current trade deficit. There are many businesses that can be engaged in to boost trade at regional level.
