By EMMANUEL ZIMBA –

MEDICAL Stores Limited (MSL) has awarded its employees a 10 per cent salary increment across the board through a collective agreement signed with the National Union for Commercial and Industrial Workers.
MSL managing director Boniface Fundafunda said in Lusaka on Tuesday that the collective agreement did not only cater for the unionised workers but all the members of staff.
Mr Fundafunda said the agreement would cover the period January 2015 to December 2017 in which the lowest paid worker would get K3, 310, while the highest paid worker would get K6, 506 besides housing and transportation.
He said despite the financial difficulties the company was facing, which included low funding and expanded work force, management had continued to render its commitment towards providing improved conditions of service for the employees.
“At Medical Stores Limited we treasure the welfare of our employees and consider the human resource as the most important asset because whatever good systems we have put in place cannot work without this valued asset,” he said.
Mr Fundafunda said that although the pay review was not enough, members of staff should expect an effective working environment and supportive management and that they should also focus on delivering on their mandate to the public.
He has since appealed to the public to always monitor their works.
