A FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD school girl of Wusakile Township in Kitwe has been defiled by a man currently on the run.
The assailant, also of Wusakile, first dragged the girl into a cabin where he defiled her the whole night before bolting the following morning.
Copperbelt police chief Joyce Kasosa confirmed the defilement that happened between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Ms Kasosa named the suspect as Humphrey Chinyanta.
She said the girl’s aunt reported to the police that her niece had been defiled by Chinyanta who had since run away.
“The suspect dragged the school girl in a cabin where he defiled her until the following morning. We instituted investigations in the matter,” she said.
Meanwhile, Ms Kasosa said a 31-year-old man in Chililabombwe has been nabbed for rape involving a woman aged 46.
The man was apprehended and handed to police by a good Samaritan who found the suspect raping the woman.
Ms Kasosa confirmed the rape and the arrest of the suspect identified as Joseph Lukas, of Lubansa Township.
She said the victim was raped on Tuesday night at Lubansa clinic.
The woman struggled with her attacker, thereby attracting the attention of the good Samaritan who found the suspect in the act.
She sustained general body pains through struggle with the assailant.
Meanwhile, Police in Mbala are in pursuit of a 17-year-old boy alleged to have lured and sodomised a nine-year-old boy.
Northern Province police divisional criminal investigations officer Mubita Nawa said the suspect had been observing a group of young boys playing football at the Chikopa Primary School soccer field before committing the offence.
When the group of boys dispersed at the end of their game, the victim lagged behind at which point the juvenile pounced.
He dragged the nine-year-old about 30 metres away from the soccer field and ordered him to undress. He then proceeded to have sex with the boy and immediately fled after the act.
“The victim went home crying complaining of a painful backside and narrated the ordeal to his parents who reported the matter to police,” Mr Nawa said.
