It’s gratifying to see Times of Zambia carrying stories on developmental projects.
I for one would like the paper to introduce the part which will show the nation progress that is being made on developmental projects across the nation, this will make the citizens to appreciate how the nation’s resources are being ploughed back to develop the nation.
We all know that those who will come after us will not go through what we went through once the infrastructure that is being constructed is finished.
Better to suffer a bit now for the betterment of our lovely nation. There is a saying which goes “ ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN ONE DAY”.
Therefore the onus is on all Zambians to appreciate what the government of the day is doing as this will help to push our nation forward .
Our brothers and sisters in the villagers who used to die because they had no access to good roads and hospitals are now enjoying these new facilities which are being taken to their door steps.
The farmers who used to make loses because of failing to transport their farm produce are now relieved of the agony of seeing what they worked for going to waste.
This and many more developmental projects have lessened the burden which we use to go through. A developed nation is not only one with resources but also well linked with good health facilities.
Zambia is ours, that’s why we are proudly Zambians. Let support the developmental projects which are going on and protect them seriously.

‘Make speed humps erection mandatory’
In the first place, I would like to thank the media for publishing my statement recently titled “Chingola speed humps.”
In that statement I said there was need for humps on all new roads and motorists too needed to drive with caution in order to prevent road traffic accidents after three school girls were last year run over by a speeding motor vehicle along Luapula Road near Chikola Secondary School, which resulted in the death of one.
As if that was not enough, barely three days after I issued that statement, a 5-year old boy of Mimbula Block 7 was this week on Sunday also run over and killed by a speeding truck along Kasompe Road as he was returning from church.
That accident also happened due to absence of speed humps on that newly tarred road. The Road Development Agency should make it mandatory for roads and humps to be constructed simultaneously with the view to avoiding such preventable accidents.
If innocent lives will continue to be lost in that manner then it is better to have bad roads.
It is high time the council and other relevant authorities became proactive.
In any case, a road is not development but a means for development.
It must as well be noteworthy that media statements are not issued for fun but to communicate important information to the public for action to be taken.
