THE Zambia Football Coaches Association (ZAFCA) has urged coaches in the country to continually upgrade their skills to be current with the latest trends in the game.
ZAFCA interim president Dan Kabwe said in an interview that getting acquainted with the best international practices was the best way to help in the development of football.
Kabwe said he would be attending a four-month Union of European Football Association (UEFA)-B Licence Pre-requisite course in London in September.
“Copying the world’s best international practices is what we need to do as coaches in the country and that calls for constant upgrading. We need not lag behind,” he said.
Kabwe said it was important for coaches to get to the highest levels of the game so that fans’ expectations can be met.
“I’ll be headed to England because I want to see how the English do things, how they have been able to raise the local league and see what is it that they have done so well and what is it we can learn from them,” he said.
The UEFA-B pre-requisite is a cardinal course for any coach before getting the UEFA B licence and coaches are taught the basics and ideology of European football.
Meanwhile, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has been conducting various low-level and upgrading coaching courses in Lusaka with Confederation of African Football (CAF) courses like CAF-C and CAF B.
