By JULIUS PHIRI –

A BOUNDARY dispute has erupted between Chief Msoro of the Kunda people in Mambwe District and Chief Madzimawe of the Ngoni in Chipata, Eastern Province.
Both traditional leaders are claiming ownership of an area known as Nyakatokoli.
Chief Msoro has ordered that all the pupils at Nyakatokoli Primary School be transferred to another school in Chief Madzimawe’s area.
Chief Msoro said he had been insulted by indunas from Chief Madzimawe over the Nyakatokoli area when it was clear that it was in his Chiefdom.
Chief Msoro aired concerns on the matter when newly elected Malambo Member of Parliament, Jacob Shuma called on him at his palace.
Chief Msoro said he had directed teachers to find alternative schools for children in Chief Madzimawe’s area.
He said he had also informed Eastern Province Minister Malozo Sichone about the matter.
“I have lived at peace with predecessors of Chief Madzimawe but I am now wondering what the problem is. I have ordered teachers at Nyakatokoli to transfer all the pupils from Chief Madzimawe to other schools in his chiefdom,” he said.
However, Chief Madzimawe said he was surprised that the Kunda chief wanted to grab a piece of land that did not belong to him.
Chief Madzimawe accused Chief Msoro of further trying to demand part of the land in Chief Mishoro, Senior Chief Nzamane and Chief Mbang’ombe’s areas.
The Ngoni Chief, who dispelled allegations that his Indunas had been insulting Chief Msoro, said the boundary was clear and wondered why his counterpart wanted to cause unnecessary misunderstandings.
Mr Sichone said the Government would help to resolve the dispute between the two traditional leaders as it had continued to escalate.
