By JULIUS PHIRI –

NEWLY elected Patriotic Front (PF) Malambo Member of Parliament Jacob Shuma has announced that he will appoint 15 people to spearhead development activities in his constituency and Mambwe district as a whole.
Mr Shuma, who has been visiting traditional leaders and checking on various developmental programmes since being elected last month, said Mambwe District could only develop with a powerful committee that would look at various sectors of the economy.
Mr Shuma said the committee would be composed of doctors, teachers and other technocrats that would be able to identify challenges in various sectors and propose solutions to the problems.
He said he was aware it was not easy to develop the area on his own hence the need to seek support from various individuals in the different fields.
He said he would be able to develop a development programme that would be all-inclusive with the help of the technocrats.
“I have a vision for this area and as far as I am concerned, this area cannot develop without involving intellectuals who come from here, so very soon I will appoint a 15 member committee to cut across all sectors of the economy,” he said.
He said it was sad that Mambwe District had lagged behind despite being endowed with vast potential in tourism.
