FOLLOWING the current lengthy load-shedding by Zesco, customers in Lusaka have been queuing up for paraffin lumps at Shoprite Cairo Road outlet.
The product, which is otherwise a non-essential one, has suddenly become one of the main attractions to the supermarket as people brave the long hours of load-shedding by the power utility firm.
The smallest lump is fetching about K19.

WITH the cold season nearing the end, Edgars is running a promotion for warm clothes for boys and girls.
Under the clearance sale, the prices of jerseys, sweat shirts and some coats for the children have been slashed by 50 per cent at all Edgars’ outlets.
Despite the approaching season, parents would do well to get these clothes now at reduced prices and keep them for their children until the next cold season next year.

TALKING shop has observed that the prices of goods at the just-intended Zambia International Trade Fair were slightly higher than sold in town.
From the survey conducted, it was discovered that prices of goods were K10 to K20 or more, higher than those in town for the same commodities.
A kilogramme of peanut butter that sells at K20 in town, for instance, was fetching K30 and, consequently, some show-goers opted to leave the Fair empty-handed.
