GOVERNMENT has deployed 22 new nurses at Kasama General Hospital to beef up the staffing levels at the institution.
Kasama General Hospital Medical Superintendent Elijah Mutoloki said the move had cushioned the shortage of medical staff at the institution.
Dr Mutoloki said this in an interview with ZANIS in Kasama recently.
He said the hospital was happy with the development as more nurses were expected to be sent to the institution.
And Kasama General Hospital Senior Nursing Officer Ethel Zulu commended Government for employing new nurses at the institution.
Ms Zulu said the hospital was facing challenges of manpower especially that the hospital was the only referral centre in Northern Province.
She added that the institution relied on nursing students who offered healthcare to patients.
Ms Zulu noted that student nurses would now concentrate more on their studies as they were not required to work but observe the working staff.-ZANIS
