Man nabbed over wife’s murder

A TWENTY-TWO-YEAR OLD man has been apprehended following the brutal killing of his 40-year-old wife who was dumped in a river in Mbala of Northern Province.
Rhoda Nambeya’s body was retrieved from Kalambo River on Monday. Ms Nambeya was found with multiple body wounds and was still bleeding from her private parts.
Her husband, Teza Munkondya  had since been apprehended in connection with the killing.
Ms Nambeya had bruises around her neck, forehead and cheeks while her head was swollen.
Police suspect the woman encountered several blows to the head as evidenced from the swollen head.
Northern Province Commissioner of Police, Alfred Nawa said details of the killing were still scanty but investigations had been instituted.
Mr Nawa said traces of blood spatter were found in the house where the couple lived leading to police apprehending her husband to aid with investigations.
“The husband was picked up as a prime suspect because unexplained traces of blood were found in the house,” Mr Nawa said. “Preliminary investigations also pointed to the fact that the deceased was killed before being dumped in the river.”
