FARMERS in Ngabwe District of Central Province have been implored to take advantage of veterinary services to curb animal diseases.
District agriculture coordinator Joseph Phakati said lack of deep tanks should not stop farmers from having their livestock vaccinated through the Veterinary Department.
Mr Phakati said the Government was putting up measures to reduce animal diseases in the area through continued vaccinations.
He said it was important that farmers utilised the veterinary services and ensure the health of their animals was in a good state.
Mr Phakati said plans were underway to build a dip tank in Ngabwe after an assessment carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
“Plans are underway to construct a dip tank in the area to address the increasing number of animal diseases,” he said.
He said agricultural officers were also carrying out sensitisations on animal health.
“I want to advise the farmers to organise themselves and carry out animal dipping as they wait for the dip tanks to be constructed as it is cheaper to carry out the exercise in groups rather than as individuals,” Mr Phakati said.
Ngabwe District Commissioner Melody Phiri assured the farmers of the Government’s commitment to ensuring they were provided with the necessary veterinary services.
