THREE decomposed bodies were found at different locations in Chambishi on the Copperbelt.
Among the bodies was one of a watchman who is believed to have committed suicide.
The Kalulushi Municipal Council has since buried the three bodies with two suspected to have been caused by snake bites.
The three bodies were picked by Chambishi Police officers on June 25 and 27.
They were handed over to Kalulushi council health inspectors for burial as required by law on unclaimed bodies.
Municipality spokesperson Beauty Undi said the watchman, identified as Raphael Bwalya aged 30, was discovered behind Non-Ferrous Africa Mining (NFCA).
Ms Undi said Mr Bwalya’s body was in a decomposed state and was only identified from the clothes he wore when last seen.
He is suspected to have committed suicide by hanging himself.
The other body whose identity was not known was discovered along Mwambashi stream with a decomposed face while the third body was discovered in an isolated area within Luano in Chambishi.
Ms Undi appealed to members of the public to take care of relatives than leaving them to be buried like destitutes.
“We are burying so many of these unclaimed bodies, and we would like appeal to members of the public not to run away from their culture of taking care of their relatives,” she said.
She said Zambians should embrace the African culture of looking after one another.
