BY ADRIAN MWANZA –
LOCAL Government and Housing Deputy Minister Danny Chingimbu has called for quick implementation of the National Decentralisation Policy for improved delivery of public services.
Mr Chingimbu said decentralisation, if properly implemented, could lead to efficient and effective delivery of services in the country.
He said this when he officiated at the pre-conference on building a superior public service delivery culture in local communities in Lusaka.
Mr Chingimbu said Decentralisation, through devolution, would be most effective as it ensured technical efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.
Mr Chingimbu said Government was mobilising both local and external resources for investment in infrastructure development such as roads, health centres and water supply.
He said it was for this reason that Government welcomed private initiatives such as the one being spearheaded by the Zambian Society for Public Administration (ZSPA) and the Consortium for International Management, Policy and Development.
