THE Zambia Cricket Union (ZCU) has donated three sets of cricket starter kits to Misambo Primary School of Mufulira in its continued bid to spread the game at the grassroots.
ZCU president Reuben Chama said his union was pleased and excited to receive new schools into its development programmes.
Chama said this during the hand-over of the cricket equipment at the ZCU head office in Kitwe that coming in of Misamba Primary School showed that the game of cricket had grown in Zambia.
Misamba Primary School deputy head teacher John Kapesa said that it was exciting to receive the cricket starter kits as the pupils would be enticed to actively get involved in the game of cricket.
The school, which is 23 kilometres from Mufulira on the Mufulira-Ndola Road, has been involved in cricket but has had no proper equipment.
“It is now pleasing that the school will train on an even ground as other schools in the mainland,” Kapesa said.
