THE Patriotic Front (PF) in Kitwe has ushered in a new leadership with the Mayor Kelvin Sinyangwe scooping the position of district chairperson.
PF provincial chairperson Steven Kainga, who was the returning officer, declared Mr Sinyangwe winner in the elections held at the civic centre on Sunday.
Mr Sinyangwe, who is Kafue Ward councilor, polled 116 votes against Alfred Kaira who got 110 votes, while Luangwa Ward councilor Evaristo Chilufya scooped the position of district vice-chairperson after he got 136 votes against Edward Chitambe’s 106.
Parklands Ward councilor Louis Chileshe retained the position of secretary with 141 votes against Gilbert Mushota who got 86 votes.
The position of vice-secretary went to Ackson Mungalaba while Bwembya Chileshe went through unopposed as treasurer and will be deputised by Lewis Matanga.
Riverside councilor Christopher Kang’ombe is the new information publicity secretary with Mark Chisanga as his deputy.
In the women category, Helen Chileshe is the new district chairlady with Jennipher Mwila as her deputy. Petronella Mulambya is the secretary and Susan Mwenya the vice-secretary.
Maggie Mwila was the new treasurer while Catherine Mwenya is her vice, Alice Siyambula scooped the position of information publicity secretary while Mirriam Musonda would be her deputy.
The position of youth chairperson went to Kaboba Mukahuzo and Moses Musonda as the vice youth chairperson while Gift Kaluba was voted as the youth secretary and Karei Maganizo as the vice-secretary.
Pick Mwewa was the youth treasurer, Elias Mwenso vice-treasurer and Lungo Kaweya as the information publicity secretary while Charles Kabwita is the vice-information publicity secretary.
Speaking after the elections, Mr Sinyangwe pledged to work hard to unite the party ahead of the 2016 elections.
