MUSICIAN, Chama Fumba, alias Pilato appeared in court yesterday and pleaded not guilty to the charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
Fumba has since been released upon payment of a K1,000 bail, with two working sureties in their own recognisance.
Fumba was charged with the offence following his arrest on Monday morning this week.
He was escorted to the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court amid tight security where several musicians and sympathisers awaited to follow the proceedings.
Fumba, 31, of house number 7734, Kansenshi in Ndola, appeared before chief resident magistrate Aridah Chuulu.
Fumba’s charges were premised on his conduct between May and June 2, this year, after he produced and caused to be published on online media, a song entitled, Alungu Anabwela.
When the matter came up for allocation yesterday, Magistrate Chuulu allocated the matter to herself and read the charge to Fumba before taking plea.
United Party for National Development (UPND) Kalomo Central Member of Parliament (MP) Request Muntanga and his MMD counterpart for Sinda Levy Ngoma signed the bail for the artiste before he was released.
Outside the court, Fumba said he did not regret the night spent in the cells and was preparing to release his new album.
