By SANDRA MWILA –
MIDFIELDER Fwayo Tembo has snubbed Honour Janza’s call-up to the Chipolopolo for the June 8 international friendly match against Ethiopia.
But Chipolopolo assistant coach Chintu Kampamba insisted that Fwayo remains part of the team for the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Guinea Bissau set for June 13.

Fwayo is not among the 18-member squad that leaves for Ethiopia this afternoon having not reported for camp despite being in the country.
Sources close to the player disclosed to the Times yesterday that Fwayo has rejected the call up because he feels the technical bench only wants to use him for the qualifiers and not for the actual AFCON finals.
Fwayo has been in the country since Monday but has not made an appearance at the Chipolopolo camp but has been seen patronising some drinking places.
“Fwayo has been in the country since Monday but he will not be part of the Chipolopolo team because he feels he is only used for qualifiers and always left for the AFCON tournament,” the source said.
However, Kampamba in an interview at Heroes National Stadium after yesterday’s morning training session, said Fwayo will miss the Ethiopia friendly but will join the team in Ndola for the AFCON qualifier against Guinea Bissau.
“He (Fwayo) is still in our plans and he will join us in Ndola, we are just trying to strike a balance between the team that will play in the African Nations Championships and AFCON qualifiers,” he said.
Kampamba said Fwayo has been in action at his Romania club Astra Giurigu and believes the player will have no challenges playing in the qualifier against Guinea Bissau despite missing the Ethiopia friendly.
The Chipolopolo have dropped eight places on the latest Coca-Cola FIFA-World ranking released yesterday for the month of June. Zambia is now in 68th position in the World and 17th on the African charts.
Zambia was in May ranked 60th in the World while in Africa the Chipolopolo were in 15th place.
Meanwhile, Sports Deputy Minister Ronald Chitotela briefly interrupted the Chipolopolo morning training session to address Janza over the team poor performance.
Chitotela said it was disappointing for a footballing nation like Zambia to be losing to the likes of Namibia and Malawi.
He said the national team should reciprocate Government support by producing positive results.
“As a Government we are supporting the national team and we expect you to reciprocate with positive results.
Do what’s best for the country, do not win for yourself or the players but for the country that has been crying for good results,”he said.
Janza thanked Chitotela for visiting the team as that will motivate the players as they face Ethiopia and Guinea Bissau.
The travelling team has goalkeepers: Danny Munyao (Red Arrows) and Jacob Banda (Zesco United).
Defenders: Donashano Malama (Nkana), Kabaso Chongo (TP Mazembe, DRC), Fackson Kapumbu (Zanaco), Emmanuel Mbola (Hapoel Ra’anana, Israel), Aaron Katebe (FC Platinum, Zimbabwe), Christopher Munthali (Power Dynamos), Kayawe Kapota (Nkana).
Midfielders: Paul Katema (Red Arrows), Kondwani Mtonga (Zesco United), Nathan Sinkala (TP Mazembe), Allan Mukuka (Green Buffaloes), Kennedy Mudenda (Power Dynamos).
Strikers: Given Singuluma (TP Mazembe), Patson Daka (Nchanga Rangers), Emmanuel Mayuka (Southampton), Evans Kangwa (Hapoel Ra’anana, Israel).
