Women’s golf team hailed

ZAMBIA Ladies Golf Union (ZLGU) president Moono Mwila has hailed Team Zambia for retaining the East and Central All Africa Trophy.
Mwila said she was happy with the progress the lady golfers were making and that there is need for continuous investment in grassroots.
Zambia retained the title after beating their closest rivals Uganda by 15 points after amassing 730 points during the tournament held in Lilongwe, Malawi.
Mwila said the competition was stiff but was happy that the golfers remained focused and determined throughout the tournament.
She said it would be good for the country to invest in nurturing young golfers in order to develop the sport further and also help improve people’s livelihood.
This is according to a statement released by first secretary for Press at the Zambian High Commission in Malawi, Chansa Kabwela.
Zambia’s High Commissioner to Malawi Her Excellency Salome Mwananshiku, deputy High Commissioner Henry Ngilazi and other diplomatic staff were on hand to congratulate the jubilant Zambian team during the flag lowering ceremony which took place immediately after the tournament.
During the awards presentation dinner held at Sunbird Lilongwe Hotel which was graced by Malawi’s Sports Minister Grace Chiumia, Kaela Mulenga was bestowed with the Best Individual Player while Tina Nawa was named Best Junior Player.
