ZAMBIA has opened an honorary consulate office in Poland with a focus on enticing the Polish business fraternity to sample what Zambia has to offer in trade and investment.
The office was opened in Warsaw recently with the preceding appointment of Bartosz Brusikiewicz as honorary consul of Zambia to Poland.
Mr Brusikiewicz is a self-employed business executive with Polish and Canadian Industry background.
Officially opening the office, Zambia’s Ambassador to Germany Bwalya Chiti said it was important for the country to have a consulate in Poland as relations between the two countries were all-round corporative.
This is according to a statement released yesterday by first secretary for press and public relations at Zambia’s Embassy in Germany, Yvonne Shibemba.
Mr Chiti said the move was also a true reflection of Government’s commitment to deepening friendly relations with Poland.
He urged the Zambians living in Poland to support Mr Brusikiewicz whom the Government appointed to represent and market Zambia efficiently in that country.
At the event, Polish deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Katarzyna Kacperczyk congratulated the Zambian Government for its initiative to open a consulate in Warsaw.
She commended the two governments for having worked hard in the pursuance of rekindling the diplomatic and economic relations between Zambia and Poland.
Among those who attended the event was first secretary for economic and trade to the Zambian Embassy in Berlin, Martin M’membe and honorary consul general of Poland to Zambia, Maryla Wisniewski.
Others are African Ambassadors accredited to Poland, senior government officials, Polish company representatives and Zambians living in Poland.
