Simukonda 1By GWEN CHIPASULA and SANDRA MWILA –

FIGHTON Simukonda has summoned exciting Power Dynamos midfielder Larry Bwalya to the Zambia Under-23 squad currently in camp preparing for this weekend CAF 2015 African Championship qualifiers.
Zambia hosts Botswana on Sunday at Nkoloma Stadium in the second round return leg after playing to a 1-all draw in Lobatse on Friday last week.
Bwalya is the third player coach Simukonda has called to camp summoning Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba and Paston Daka to beef up the squad as he attempts to avoid an early exit from the qualifiers.
Simukonda expressed happiness after Bwalya joined the squad and that the coaching bench had asked the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to help negotiate for the release of Kampamba.
“Larry joined us today (yesterday) and we are very glad that he is here and hope his availability will greatly help us in the return leg against Botswana. We shall ensure that come up with a strong squad and qualify,” he said.
Simukonda said all the players were fit except from Jack Chirwa, who got a knock during the first leg match in Lobatse, but that the doctors were assessing him and should be ready for the match.
He said in an interview after a training session having played Botswana has given him an insight of the Tswana’s system of play and would come up with a good game plan to win the match.
Meanwhile, Shepolopolo assistant coach Kape Saili has said the technical bench will maintain the team that beat Zimbabwe 2-1 in the first leg of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers played at Nkoloma Stadium.
Saili said in an interview that the players had their first training session yesterday after the weekend game and are all enjoying a clean bill of health.
