NAPSA Stars have recalled goalkeeping coach Samuel Banda, who was recently put on forced leave alongside head coach Hector Chilombo and assistant Evans Sakala following the club’s poor start to the 2015 MTN-FAZ Super League season.
Napsa vice-chairperson, Owen Chimpinde confirmed the re-engagement of Banda in an interview yesterday, saying he was expected to rejoin the team on Monday.
Chimpinde said Chilombo and Sakala would continue being on leave because the club still had contracts with them.
“These guys were just put on leave because as you know they were never fired. But we have decided to recall Banda,” he said.
Chimpinde said Napsa believed the summoning of Banda would help improve the team’s performance especially in the goalkeeping department.
He said Napsa at the moment was going through a rough patch but the club’s executive was confident that things would soon improve.
“I am confident Napsa will soon overcome the challenges it’s going through and get back to the winning ways,” he said.
Chimpinde said the players had promised to put up an improved performance, starting with tomorrow’s match against fellow strugglers, Nakambala Leopards.
Banda, Sakala and Chilombo were given indefinite suspensions because of the club’s poor start to the season.
Napsa is currently sitting in the 15th position on the table with seven points from nine games.
