THE Copperbelt University (CBU) has launched three new degree programmes in the school of business.
The programmes launched are; bachelor of science in business and project management, bachelor of arts in transport and logistics and bachelor of arts in human resource management.
During the launch, Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary Pamela Kabamba, said the introduction of the new degree programmes is aimed at providing solutions to the ever changing challenges in the business world.
Ms Kabamba said the bachelor of science in business will provide businesses with the needed skills to successfully transform small enterprises into viable corporations that are self-sustaining.
She said the initiative by the institution is an example of how tertiary education can be made more relevant by responding to the needs of the market.
“These programmes being launched today particularly the bachelor of science in business and project management has been necessitated by the increasing demand for such skills in the public sector more especially at the ministry of finance,” she said.
Ms Kabamba said this is in line with the Ministry of Finance’s goal of effectively undertaking a challenge function in the national planning and budgeting processes.
Acting CBU vice-chancellor Shadreck Chama said the programmes launched will produce graduates who will not seek to be employed but rather look for opportunities to provide business solutions.
Dr Chama said graduates from these programmes are expected to be enterprising in areas such as business case development and execution and many others.
He said the institution will continue being innovative in the approach to higher learning education and design as many programmes of study as possible.
