THE Mbalango health post in Lufwanyama District constructed at a cost of over K800,000 by Copperbelt Development Foundation limited (CDFL) has been handed over to Government.
Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Reverend Howard Sikwela said during the handover ceremony in Lufwanyama that the gesture by the CDFL to construct a health post is in line with Government’s vision to ensure equity access to cost effective, quality health services closer to the family.
Reverend Sikwela said the health facility will go a long way in enabling the community to receive early primary health care services.
“What we are witnessing today will go a long way in the attainment of one of Government’s priorities of taking cost effective health services to the communities,” he said.
He said Mbalango health post will significantly improve the health well-being of the community in Lufwanyama and that priority life-saving prevention and curative interventions will be provided.
Reverend Sikwela said Government had set targets to improve quality health care but that could only be achieved with the support from stakeholders like CDFL.
Reverend Sikwela urged other stakeholders to emulate CDFL and partner with Government so that better healthcare is delivered to every citizen in the country.
Provincial medical officer Consity Mwale said stakeholders in the province have continued to directly support efforts in the health sector, while others were supporting the sector by construction of infrastructure.
CDFL board chairperson John Lungu said the organisation will continue to support and provide services to the people to improve their lives.
Professor Lungu said apart from constructing the health post, CDFL had equipped the institution with modern medical equipment.
He hoped that the district medical office would support the centre to function normally.
The project included construction of the Health post, solar power electrification, borehole drilling, windmill, two staff houses and medical equipment.
